Just woken up, it's 6:30am, rushed down to check the incubator and I have 2 pips!!!!! Halfway through day 21. So does this mean my temperature has been good throughout incubation? (I had to fiddle with the bator and calibrate it in the beginning, so wasn't sure if I'd done it right).

While I was just sitting there marveling at what I was seeing - a chick cheeped at me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The humidity has gone down to 67% overnight. Should I leave it at this or should I now raise it a little. Opinions please.

Guess what me and our 9 kids are gonna be doing all day today - watching Chick TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH to all you wonderful BYCers who have gotten me this far. Your knowledge and kind support are so appreciated!

Ok humidity is back up to 62 percent, but I have one egg that piped on the bottom and it seems to have some kind of discharge coming out of it. I looks kind of like isulation or something that is sticking out about 1/4 inch. I know its not part of the chick because it is yellowish and these are all BCM eggs. Can anyone help with what this might be?
THat sounds like yolk, and if it is...that might be a big problem :\

if there's yolk leaking out then it's possible the yolk was ruptured. Can you get a pic? It wouldn't be a threat to the other eggs though

My phone is down right now and is the only way I can take pics. I think you are right about the yolk. I have one more question. I think the first three may be shrink wraped. They are not making any progress and I just had one that hatched that piped well after the first three. Is there anything I can do to help them thy are still chirping and I can see beaks moving but they are not breaking away any more shell.

What has your humidity been? How long have they been pipped?
humidity was down to 43 when I got home from work. it had been in the around 70 since lock down and I wanted to let it come down a bit so I left the plugs out of the holes this morning it was day 20 didn't expect pips until tonight or tomorrow. Keep in mind this is only my second batch now I see my mistake you never know when they will come if it is that close. I know the first pip was found aroud 1 pm today. I got home at 6pm added water and it came right back up to 62 where it is now. My roomate doesn't know to watch the humidity and he found the pips and I didn't ask at the time what it was.

Nothing on my little one with a pip... Maybe I'll wake up tomorrow to a little chicky running around the 'bator. No pips on the others either.

For those who have a Brinsea Mini Advance... Do you ever need to add more water during lockdown? I filled up both pots on Monday, but it's already only about a quarter full. Should I go ahead and add more water or just leave it? No chicks have hatched yet but one pipped...

I would leave them until it's been close to 12 hours after pipping. Right now they are absorbing yolk and just resting, so it's normal for them to chill out and chirp.

Thank you for your advice. I travel for a living so the last batch I wasn't home for, so I didnt know what to expect. Since the first on has hatched and is making alot of ruccus in there I see progress with all of the other three.
