Today at 9am was the start of Day 22 for me. They are actually shipped silkie eggs. I paid for 20...received 24 (and set 1 of my own as a "test" so set 25). I had 1 infertile at day 7, 2 quitters at day 10 -for sure blood rings not just big veins-they were nasty, 1 quitter at day 14, 3 quitters at day 18. Locked down 17...16 shipped and my test egg. Sad to lose some but AWESOME for shipped eggs! They came from SC to Indiana and the weather was so cold. They are miracles! Being my first shipped eggs, the anxiety has been so much worse for me! So relieved to have my first pip!!! Thank you for the encouragement! Here are some pics of last weeks hatch:

My lovely little 'Box-of-Chocolates' ducklings (various crosses of cayuga, saxony, blk swede and pekin and hatched Mar 18-21), were shown on our provincial news station last night - chosen as part of a weekly photo contest. Too cute!





This is another personal favourite. Love the expression!! lol

Well, at last check I have 3 barred rock eggs, and 2 easter egger eggs externally pipped!! And from what I could tell, 2 more easter eggers internally pipped!! They are all resting now... if they wait until tomorrow to hatch that will be day 20. They're a bit early... but so long as they're healthy I'm fine with that!!

Gonna be a long weekend for sure tho!!

.Im gonna chime in.. my little egg that peeped to tell me it wasnt in lockdown yet ....(HELLO LADY??WHAT ABOUT ME? PEEP PEEP!).is zipping now. HURRAH!!
Was worried i shrink wrapped him. putting him in lock day 22....

lost my hatch, its day 24..
i had 2 pip this am, one of them died the other is still alive..
not sure its going to make it.

1 out of 12..

this was my first batch.. will try again soon.

Happy to report that i have 8 chicks in the brooder doing great. 3 blue rocks, 3 splash rocks, 1 barred rock and an EE. Eating and drinking good they are allready using their bowls even. One had curled up feet but i used the band aids like i read about here on byc and she is up and going good. 4 eggs still in bator will check them tomorrow if no progress.
