Happy to report that i have 8 chicks in the brooder doing great. 3 blue rocks, 3 splash rocks, 1 barred rock and an EE. Eating and drinking good they are allready using their bowls even. One had curled up feet but i used the band aids like i read about here on byc and she is up and going good. 4 eggs still in bator will check them tomorrow if no progress.
Congratulations..

I have been watching this last egg I had to take from my broody hen move and chirp for hours and still no pip! And of course this is the one I wanted to hatch the most, so you know it had to hatch last! Lol. Hope the little one pops out soon while I try to stop staring in the bator hoping to see a pip! I know it can take time...I'm just being impatient and thought it would make ms feel better if I complained. ;)

I love watching in the incubator and the wiggling is so cute and very relaxing to me I love it when you know they are alive cause the egg moves and it can be a waiting game I am constantly at the incubator cause everytime I walk away i find myself right back happy clucking everyone and I hope that it pips for you soon All of mine are on lockdown

I have an internal pip!!!

I was worried that my EE's were getting too squished... which is why I locked them down at day 17. Today is day 19 and I heard cheeping from the incubator!! I might have a busy day tomorrow! Take your time chickie... absorb ALL your stuff before coming out. I'm ok with hatching on day 20. Take a nap. LOL. Healthy babies please!!

I heard cheeping!!! Woot Woot!!

The barred rock eggs look to be right on schedule for Saturday's hatching... they may even be a tad late. So, I may have set both breeds on the same day... but it might be a kind of staggered hatch anyways? We'll see.

that is GREAT!!! So happy your EE's are on the way!

Thank you :) Hanging in there. No change yet this morning. Gonna work outside all day so quit looking through the plastic every five minutes.
Yep that's what I've learned to do too! Only trouble I have is when they do night time hatches- like last night. I had 2 pipped within 30 min of each other. I stayed up all night, then when I fell asleep at 5:30am, my husband woke me @ 5:45 saying "you missed it, you got a chick toddling around your incubator"

We were outside all day today, came in this evening and the other pipped chick was 'glued' in there. I've done a little zip to clear the beak for breathing and it's now doing the rest itself- however since no other eggs had pipped I candled and found all other chicks internally pipped but dead in the shell...

I agree, I have one self blue and she has been our favorite from the beginning

Yes they are so sweet & beautiful little birds! In addition to my self blues I sort of adopted a few hours old MF colored one today. My friend's hen hatched out 12 Tues night. She had left the nest with the chicks yesterday but apparently still had a few eggs. One chick had hatched early this morning my mama hen refused to have anything to do with it. So he gave it to me- it's too cute

Congrats to everyone on the new chicks & ones on the way

Well... I guess my barred rocks don't want to wait either. I now have all 4 of my EE's have pipped, and 3 of my BR's. I put the incubator on the end table in my living room and made a bed for myself right here on the couch. I have mananged about 4-5 hours total of sleep here & there over night checking on them every hour or two. I can see a couple of the little kiddos moving around inside their little pip hole. Too cool.

Oh, and while I'm sitting here typing... I heard the loudest crack (relatively speaking). I looked over and one of the barred rock babies launched a huge chunk of shell off their hole and it hit the side of the bator. Bigger hole for that one now. LOL. Good job chickie.
