March Hatch-Along Thread- Come Hatch With Us!!!!!

Hi everyone,

Is it too late to join this hatch-a-long? I set eggs in my incubator 2 days ago (1st February). This is my second attempt at incubating. The first try, 2 weeks ago amounted to nothing. Very disappointing. Hopefully I've got my new incubator figured out now.

I live in Thailand and the heat and humidity here at the moment is high.

Hi & welcome! I hope this time it works out well for you. My first 6 hatches were duds, but the last 2 have been great & I have eggs hatching right now- so don't give up!

Try to keep your humidity in the bator in the low to mid 30's during the first 18 days. Then during lockdown up it to low to mid 60's. Temp should remain 99.5-100 throughout. That's what has worked for me here in Florida and we are very humid.

Yep I agree! And the same with the humidity here in Louisiana-

I think my eggs should be due to hatch on the 24th!

Yay! I have ducklings on the 24th.

Also, a lone EE on the 17th. He came with the mallard eggs(which are blue/green), so I'm hoping to put him with my Feb 24th silkies, my March 13th mystery brown chickens, or my March 20th guinea keets.
If he hatches at all.

Ok here's a pic of the mallard ducklings I got this morning- they are so dang cute! And I got this corner little pan, made for rabbits & ferrets for them to use a little place to swim while they're little. They LOVE it! Oh and Brook, I took your advise about the horse bedding pellets- they are GREAT

I missed a week of this March thread Had to hurry and catch up just now

Im here too all month .
I and some Los due tomorrow...
And Well lets see i have some silkied ams due in march,
and more of my los...always
trying for my LBs so far cant get a fertile egg! ....DANG hav some refirgerator ones i am going to candle i n a couple days That should be interesting.
Oh and should have some white ams on the way this week so March also

Also have some chihuahua puppies due March 16th They are incubating now LOL ... Hope i can fit them in with all the hatches .

One of my Jan EE hatches is the sweetest little thing, already comes up to me & squats!!! Only 5wks old!!! So can I assume any of the ones that do thise early squating are ladies? Those dang pea combs make it so hard to tell!

Pick "her" up by the scruff of the neck. If she fights a few seconds then holds her legs up against her belly: Hen. If she fights for more than a few seconds, "she" is a roo. This usually works best when they're a few weeks old. Hope it helps!

I'd like to join in on this...
I have a thread called "Incubating Eggs of Different Ages". I ran into this same problem, as I have eggs due to hatch anywhere from March 1st (a Wheaten Maren egg) to March 13th (5 brown mystery eggs), March 20th (13 pearl guineas), March 24th (mixed ducklings), and my favorites on March 24th-30th (4 goose eggs!).

I've already hatched several batches of chicks with this setup, it seems to work pretty well!

Plus, there is an bacteria bloom whenever chicks hatch, which decreases the hatch rate of your other eggs.
Hope all the hatches go well!

JEEZ! Hope that isnt true! ..maybe why my Lav Ams didnt hatch besides the temp dropping down to 75 one day.
They looked good at lock down OH no oh no!!
Had some hatch in there on day 19 of the LAv Ams Now on day 20 more of LOs to hatch still havent cleaned it as it has been Lock on lock for 3 or 4 hatches. Gotta go back look at each . GUG

gapeach : Just want to say I am sorry about the chicks that passed.
It just flat hurts. I have come to accept that sometimes mother nature just makes that decision
because they have problems that we cannot see and they would not have had a good life.

I am having such a laugh at myself...Good Grief.cannot stay away from the incubator..........

And then I worry.What if the hydrometer reading is off.and on and on..............
My mind is way to busy..... 5 pipped

LOL me too! They have not hatched yet- but the second egg pipped this morning- they are both in the slow process of zipping. The second egg pipped wrong end

but poor little thing is moving right along- so it must be ok. Nothing from the 3rd egg yet.

And oh my geez, went to get horse & chick feed this morning- and bought 6 cuckoo marran chicks! And 2 mallard ducklings

I. Got some of those pellets at the feed store today too for my brooder!!!
