So I got a new thermometer/hydrometer with a probe thing on the end of the wire(like a headphones cord) and I have the digital reader on top of the bator with the wire in one of the vents. My question is where is the best place for the little pad on the end of the wire to go? I have the thermometer that came with the bator on top of the eggs in the carton. I have 9 more eggs on their sides so should it hang between the top of those eggs and the floor (which I read that's where your supposed to put a wet bulb for humidity reading in a still air or put it ontop of the eggs? Advice please!!!

I put my thermometer level with the middle of the eggs.

My incubator has been between 99.5-100.4 like a champ but my humidity is not raising above 35%. And it seems everyone for the most part agrees that duck eggs should be in the 50-65% range. I have both troughs filled with water. I started with both red plugs out for ventilation & then plugged 1 then both in but still has not raised humidity. What am I doing wrong?!!!!!

I would try a wet sponge inside if you want to raise the humidity.
It is the surface area open to evaporation that raises the humidity, and a sponge has lots of it.

Add either a sponge or washcloth under one of the vent holes. That way you can add warm water to it until you get the humidity you want without opening the bator all the time.

This might be a silly question but does it matter if its one of those sponges that has the green abrasive side? That's all I have or do I need to buy some of the plain ol sponges?

Just set some BCM, Aracauna, and Americauna eggs this morning. The BCM eggs were shipped to me, the Americauna and Aracauna are from my flock and their roo is a BCM. Hoping for OE pullets from my eggs, but probably hatch roos!
