This is why I weigh and mark air cell development. At this point all you can do is keep the humidity LOW until one pips internally (yes you will need to candle them throughout the day). When you see that one has pipped, you'll have to raise the humidity to prevent it from drying out.

MY AIR CELLS ARE TOO SMALL!!!! It's day 18, and this is what most of them look like! What should I do?? Turn down the humidity until one pips?!

Candled eggs today. 7 duck eggs still looking good. The 5 big eggs look infertile. Of the 17 bantam eggs, 10 have veining, 4 are questionable, 3 look infertile. Will check again Friday, which will be day 10 for the chicks.

Baby chick #1 has piped...but no chirping yet! Six hours without much progress...feel like a worried mother! Just hoping I'll come into school tomorrow and see that it's worked hard tonight!

I'm so sorry to hear about this. I agree that nature knows best, but it is still sad.

OK, so I came home from the dentist, took my meds, and now I just put incubator 2 on lockdown!! I candled and SMELLED all 32 eggs, removed one that I checked a few times before deciding on it being a quitter and locked the rest down....i have THIRTY ONE moving and kicking and I think one of those teeny tiny silkies may have already pipped inside!!!

The scariest thing NOW is the humidity. CLEARLY it was not high enough last time, so I am going to try and keep it 75% and up til the end now. The last bunch was a mess!!! I still cant believe I got my lockdown days off, lol!!! Here we go again!!!

You just inspired me to create a google calendar reminder for lockdown! 3/20 at 8pm, now I wont forget!

--- I just candled the first batch of eggs due on the 16th and only had one quitter out of 25! that's pretty good compared to what I used to have. Can't wait!!
