Just want too ask the 3 chicks with curled toas if puted them shoes (plasters) on can I leave it on say about a month? You are graet on this thread so much help :)thanx too all
The shoes will only take a few days to correct the toes. I usually leave mine on for about a week and then take then off.

Anne Marie,
Hi,
I am sure there will be many suggestions about cleaning. This what I do.
I wash with warm water and liquid dawn. rinse then
I use bleach.deluted in water..not sure of the measuments.I put about 1 teaspoon in a cup of water
then wipe everything down with a clean rag dipped in the bleach solution..I let this set at least 5 minutes..........
I rinse well with clear water........If it is sunny, I set the incubater outside to dry.
If not, I use a hairdryer to dry............then, It's ready to go.

Hope someone has a better description of measurments for bleach.I just eyeball it.

Good Luck
This is pretty much what I do except I don't use the dish soap. I just do a good wiping with bleach/water solution. Rinse well and then either outside in the sun to dry or air dry for a few hours before I set the next bunch.

Im so sorry to hear about your babies.

Call ducks are incredibly hard to hatch because of there little bills and all. If you want to try it again with ducks do a larger breed for sure.
I've read that too about them being hard to hatch, but I wanted to try. We only wanted 2 or 3 and wanted small ducks, which is why we wanted the calls... I did buy 2 baby mallards from TSC, so they will have to do...

So happy you got some to hatch!!!

Hello everyone, this is my first hatch. I am using a home made incubator. I got up this morning and before heading to work, checked out the incubator, and 2 chicks have pipped and others are rocking. Very excited. They seem to be early though, I set the eggs on the 16th of last month, and wasn't expecting any action until tomorrow afternoon.
Wahoo!!!!!! Won't be long till you will have fuzzy buddies running around !!!

Oh those lionheads..SOO .CUTE!

HAHAHA like me...I dont think i have ever seen a warmblooded baby animal that wasnt cute....even if ugly cute.!
Only thing about bunnies is they breed like rabbits every few weeks new babies. Bunnies coming out of your ears! (CUTE bunnies though.)..
And the 2 lionhead/lop are sooooo sweet too! The nz/rex is more timid & reserved. I've already got half my family wanting to buy rabbit meat from me so the babies won't be a prob. I NEVER thought I'd see the day when I would be raising any animals to eat... My cousins raise the pork we buy & my dad raises the beef I buy. But I am not on 'personal' terms w/ any of those animals. As I've gotten older, the economy changes etc I have seen the need for this, so I'm going to do it...

Congrats to all with pips and new hatchers!

Here, candled today, day 10 for the chicks, and could see them moving! So exciting. And 3 that I was uncertain about earlier are definitely moving today. Out of 17 OEGB eggs, only 3 were clear!

Think the ducks look good too. Day 16 for them and they appear to be growing too. The next week and a half will be an eternity!

Help! What do I do?! My chick just hatched and this is sticking out-

What is it and what should I do? I hope is is not its intestines.
