So it is to early to candle right now? I can see in the eggs, but I've gotten mixed answers about candling on day 4.

I know it's hard but wait until day 7. Then you will really see what's inside.

Will it hurt them to not turn until day 7?

I actually don't like waiting until day 7 because that's the most vital turning time in incubation. I waited 3 days with my shipped eggs that had jiggly air cells, and then started to turn them (I incubate in cartons). Air cells are stabilized now and lockdown is tomorrow

The reason I wanted to candle so early was for that exact reason. The BMA won't hold egg carton cups so I'm trying to get as many out early on so it's less to turn. Not that I don't want them to hatch (I do, trust me) but it's just hard for me to not use the turning tray.

It hasn't with any of the ones I have left until then. It has actually increased the amount of embryos that have started to develop. By day 5 all the major organs are formed and those 2 extra days really help them to get stronger before turning.

What if you have late bloomers though? I just set a batch of CCL eggs a little over a week ago. When I candled on day 5 there was one that was clear. I left it in there and sure enough when I candled on Saturday(day 9) it had started developing.

I didn't have a actual incubator just a crappy home-made bator got TWO out of 2 hatches that started to hatch and never made it. So I went and bought me a new bator. Keep the temp at 99 and the humidty between 25-45% and everythings doing great! I just leave'em alone. Lol.

Well I tried my first hatch last month and was a total failure. Made some upgrades on incubator and temp/humidity gauge. Setting at 6Am. I'm going to do a few things different this time to see if it will help. I have 15 eggs I collected. Most from my production reds. Throw in 2 RIR/EE eggs for the heck of it. Why not lol. Going to try the dry method this time around. Humidity at 37%-Temp at 100. So I guess well go from there. Won't candle till day 7, so I guess I will give update from there.
