Woo hoo... !! Come on babies!

Baby chick number one hatched!! Anybody have any suggestions on what breed it might be? We just had a bunch of eggs donated, majority of them mixes. My students are guessing RIR, but I'm thinking it looks more like a Buff chick...

My big group (23 if they are all still going strong) is going under lockdown on Sunday! So baby chick won't be by itself for very long! :D

No idea on breed... I'm awful at guessing that stuff. If I HAD to guess though, I'd go with a breed with a lighter red than RIR... like ISA brown, New Hampshire, or red star, or any of the buffs.

Lol...I'm awful at it too! This is my first official chicken ever! Can't wait for the rest of mine to hatch out! We have a rainbow of eggs in the 'bator....so who knows what's going to pop out!

I'll have to look up some of those breeds and see. At least my students are getting to practice their observation skills!

Left the house for the first time in two days (only bc I had to!!) and came home in time for this:
