Oh! Lol. Looked like faces there but looking closer I realize that you marked them with veins, etc..

Just me being anal I guess. I don't weigh or use spread sheets but do have a calendar I track them on.

When there is a blood ring, can I be positive that nothing is going to develop? After the dropping egg with chick inside incident I didn't want to take any chances and throw any out at the moment. I still can't believe I did that

Yes, a blood ring indicates a dead embryo. However are you positive it's a blood ring? Are there no other veins? Sometimes a vein will grow and look like a blood ring. You can wait if you'd like, but if there are no other veins and just a blood ring I'd toss it before it goes bad.

read on another site...please don't ask, I have short term memory blindness and couldn't tell you other than something garden, anyway, someone said that they have never herd of better than 90% hatch rate for shipped eggs. And somewhere else on ebay, someone if stating that 25% is common, 50% good, and 75% rare...

anyway, it appears that hatching shipped eggs has problems. Can't all be the post office though.

but it's still fun.

I'm on Day 11 and I just candled all of my eggs. Out of the 18 shipped eggs I got from Montana to California, I've only culled one that had a blood ring. The rest are wriggling away in their shells. If they continue to do well, and make it out of their shell, then that would be 94%. Strangely, the rest of my original 48 eggs were local and I culled five more of those. So, my non-shipped eggs are at 83% right now. How weird is that?!

Really? I come in this morning and it says there are 51 new posts! LOL. I went back PAGES and found my last post and it was only 13 hours ago. You peeps are busy!

Look what else I got today!!!!! My first egg!!!!!

Woohoo! First eggs are exciting! So are the 2nd, 3rd... then the first of any other hens. I remember our first egg, and then the first green egg from our EE, and then the first silkie egg... Always so much fun!! The coop is like Christmas! I love collecting eggs.

We'll I feel really, really bad right now... While I was candling, I accidentally dropped an egg... It was developing too... I feel really, really bad.

Oh no.

I will be sad with you. Don't be too hard on yourself though!

Ok still no pips. I am getting worried. I just really need some good vibes right now before I cry.

Please please let my babies hatch. I promise to spoil them all.

Lol no faces. The circle is air cell at day 8 and then I mark first veins to track growth with sharpie.

Oh I don't know... that one in the bottom left of the pic looks a bit "angry face". LOL

Hey all my day are a disaster... My eggs started hatching yesterday got 6 chicks but this hatch is a disaster.. 1 chick looks fine yipeee. But 4 chicks were so dirty coming out and had yellow stuf stil hanging out but gone now and then the last one looks like there are hanging a blood sak from his belly??? What is that and wil it be fine?? And please don't tell me to cull it I can't .. And the other thing is the 4 dirty chick it looks like something is wrong with there feet?? 1 feet 2 toas and bending in of al 4?? Please help I'm going crazy...it feels like I just want too trough all the remaning eggs away too scared too see them hatch..

Oh I wish I could help ..... I am new at this and have heard talk about these things but I am not sure what to do ..... I think the belly thing they say sometimes it takes a bit for the tummy to absorb it so hopefully that one will b fine and the toe thing I rem someone talking about that but can't rem what they did .... I know someone will b on in a bit to help you out! Don't get discouraged ..... I can only imagine how I feel since my first batch is due to hatch in 6 days and I would be heartbroken :-(
