Anyone ever have a chick pip through a blood vessel and still live? Mine is looking awfully still.
But, I have five chicks that have successfully hatched already, and we are only about six hours into Day 21! 40 made it to lockdown, so 35 more to go.

Arkansas81 ..... How's your chicks making it?
I sure hope you have chicks today!!
Power went out last night during our "snowstorm" and luckily the bator was done and unplugged but then there were the babies... I had to get them out of the brooder and snuggle with them in bed. I put a towel down and sat cross-legged with them in the "well". They slept so good and hardly knew anything ever happened. Here's a crappy cell phone picture of them in the light of the flashlight:![]()
So while I'm here, the final tally is 11 hatched of 22 eggs. 6 BO/EE mixes, 1 BO and 4 Buff Brahmas. One of the BO/EE has muffs! Oh and the last BO egg didn't make it, never pipped externally and since I was gone all day, I wasn't here to force the issue. But I have some more eggs to hatch and getting some more, hopefully, on Monday and then I'll set those. More excitement on the way! In the meantime I have these little fuzzballs to keep me busy.
Arkansas81, I hope you wake up to something this morning.![]()
