March Hatch-Along Thread- Come Hatch With Us!!!!!

Yes they do and I have had one triple and twins made it but third died twins are very easy to me in helping assist it even though they say to let them do it on their own but I jump on in it when i know it has been long enough

I do not have twins, as I thought I did, but I did run into a problem with them all. One pipped in the wrong end, and they are ALL too weak to get out of the shell! There is still blood in the veins in the membrane, so I dare not touch them yet. They can all breathe, so I don't need to worry about that. I don't know why, but whenever I get eggs, I always have to assist them! I don't know why! Every egg I ever had, besides ONE, I had to assist.

All I can do now is hope for the best!

I have twins in 4 of mine now due to hatch on easter sunday and all I can do is wait for pip so excited about the all 18 eggs are fertile and moving around in the incubator including the ones with twins I will help the twin ones out as soon as they pip but others have to go on their own unless they have trouble...Some of them do have trouble and when I see one in trouble I always help it if I can I love my babies lol

Well march was an absolute failure. 43 eggs were set and only one hatched. Then the sole chick to hatch passes the following morning. I don't swear to much but I swear ill never try to use that incubator ever again. But not all is bad here. Great news actually!!! I have 4 broody hens. Two of my cornish, my Kraienkoppe, and Patty my Chantecler. All my updates will be in the April hatch along. Good riddance March.

That doesn't sound right to me. Why are you having to assist them? How long are you waiting? How do you know they are too weak to get out? Are you giving them ample time to rest and build up strength? Are your temps a little too low?

That doesn't sound right to me either. If they pipped and there is still blood then they aren't ready to come out. They can pip and take up to 24 hours to zip and even zipping can take many hours sometimes. I know it's really hard to wait but, you are actually doing more harm than good by assisting when they aren't ready. Hope that helps and hope your babies come out happy peeping chickies
