March hatch along

That has been surprising to me on this thread the amount of candling so many are doing.  I am not a hatching guru at all, I am good at dealing w/ shrink wrap, but that was forced on me.  Anyway I haven't really participated in many hatch a long threads and had no idea so much candling was going on.  I only candle once at half time.

I haven't incubated anything myself yet. I can't say yet what I would or wouldn't do for sure. I figure the candling is important in the first 10-14 days, to ensure there are no duds. I likely wont be candling the last week. I'll sleep better if I don't think about them :D

Y'all know wha? I just realized I had started posting in the April thread.. But my next eggs are due THIS Friday, not next. LOL. Duh.

Anyway, got the dozen Marans eggs back from their temporary home last night. This made it easy! One day of turning (today) and then I get to lock down!

So. Fingers crossed that this time will go better. Some of you may recall that my last hatch was a total waste- ended up with ALL shrink wrapped, one hatched unassisted but died in the bator (I think by that point my humidity was TOO high and it drowned) and one assisted hatch that ended up dying Sunday at 5 days old.

Glad to see u back..... now on to round 2....I'm sure this will go better!

Thanks!!

Okay! Got home, did my last candling (also my first for these eggs lol).. Tossed three clears, everything else looked fine as far as I could see.

Filled up my troughs.. Temp is back up to 99, and humidity is around maybe 45% so far? (As far as I could tell from my questionable hygrometer calibration, I should add 5 to what I see..)

For now is that humidity okay?
