My goals have changed so many times since I started keeping chickens. My understanding and awareness have also changed. I have a feeling there is plenty of both in my future chicken adventures. In fact I know there is!When I have my own property and start to breed sebrights, I won’t vaccinate them because I’ll be breeding for resistance.

This learning on Marek's and my stance makes me consider other things about flock keeping. Though my flock doesn't display signs of Marek's and I feel safe selling incubator chicks since it doesn't pass into the egg. The question is risen in my brain... what else MIGHT be present that I can't detect that MIGHT transfer to the embryo/chick? I enjoy selling chicks. They make everybody happy and it helps cover the cost that goes into so much faster than eating eggs. I wasn't planning to get NPIP, because for one my home owners insurance is giving me grief and calling it a business if I sell anything whether for profit or not. But now I feel as though testing (for things like MC/MG) is the responsible thing to do if I'm going to be letting chicks go even from the incubator/brooder... Which begs the question... If you got hatching eggs from another flock, those chicks could hatch with that stuff and spread it to the incubator and subsequent chicks possibly. The curve never stops changing.

We are getting ready for our first broody hatch in order to hopefully gain a roo and sell the extra girls. I was searching on Marek's and bantams (since we are getting all Silkie eggs for our Silks to hatch and brood for us). The conversation has been great and informative!
