marek's vaccination help

Hi all- I've been told to vaccinate my chicks for mareks when they are no older than 2 days old. I had a complication with the vaccine and now have to go buy it tomorrow. Is 3 days of age ok? They have been inside in a brooder.

The longer you wait to vaccinate, the more chance of the chicks becoming exposed to the virus prior to vaccination. However, it is fine to go ahead and vaccinate your 3 day old chicks as hopefully, they have not yet been exposed. Remember to be careful they are not exposed to adults for at least 14 days after vaccination and be cautious about any transfer that might occur from your clothing, hands, shoes etc.

Thank you! I've been washing my hands like crazy. I will keep them inside for a while then I guess. All our adult chickens are vaccinated, but I hear it is in the soil too!
