I wouldn't know. I know nothing about the alleles in ducks. Moony might. Or @Pyxis

If we're talking black and white specifically, white is autosomal recessive - bird needs to inherit a copy of white from both parents to be white. It's epigenetic, too, so if it DOES inherit two copies of white, it will be white, no matter what other genetics it has.

Black is incompletely dominant. One copy makes a bird black with possibly some color bleed from mallard base. Two copies all black, no bleed.

Pied is a totally different gene, and is a pattern gene so it doesn't affect color otherwise. Also incompletely dominant.

It's the bill for me. Something is so appealing about a bill that short and a head that round. Hence my Cornish bantams

The ones I've seen in show look like fat pigeons to me for some reason. The Darks especially always have super blocky, round heads, though. Not my bird, just one I took a picture of in show:

I know it's no consolation, but White Ameraucanas are one of the very few breeds I can actually stand in pure white. I don't even like the white calls or Orps mentioned.

Whoops, too many chickens, here is a call duck to balance it out. Snowy has always been my favorite variety for them. This one is also not my bird, just one I took a picture of because he was too handsome.
