Mare's Illegal Cute-ness (Call Duck) Chat Thread!!

They didn't include anything with my pair that I just received Wednesday. I guess it's possible they did and the little quackers ate it all but I didn't see any signs of anything but a tiny bit of shavings. They shipped on Monday afternoon from Montana and arrived in NC early Wednesday morning. @Overo Mare did Raz and Puddin have anything in their box?

Edited to add: My apologies! I didn't ready far enough. Typical me ☺️
It can be different with weather too.....I know myshire and others will typically put cucumbers or similar in with juvenile/adults especially during warmer months. And if they did use the gro-gel, there probably wouldn't be any remnants left after 2 days in transit. But most birds are relatively resilient and can survive a couple days without anything in the box during milder weather. I would just be scared to death with risk of delays etc.

Yeah, they put a ton of cucumber in with the 20 quail I ordered a few years ago

That makes a lot of sense. I was terrified about delays. I think I was even more worried about @Overo Mare pair because they were delivered on a Friday, right? Since we had just got through that power outage from the attacks on the substations I was worried there would be a hold up with the postal service, but a lady called me on the scheduled delivery day, before they opened and said, "Hello. I was calling to let you know there is, ummm, some kind of ?bird? here at the post office for you."
🤣🤣🤣

Yep! They called me 10 minutes before closing, too. Talk about a nervous wreck lol.

I had similar luck with shipped call duck eggs, just one hatched out of I think 18. That little duckling only lived around 10 days, too, so that was rough all around.

I didn't have much better luck with eggs from the pair I bought, though. Crash is the only one that ever hatched from them and I'm pretty sure that was only because I had weakened her shell for her when I dropped her egg at lockdown. :hmm But I never tried again after her. Too much heartbreak.
I don't have great success with incubator hatches from my own eggs. But they do pretty good hatching them out theirselves!
