My half wild Mallard/Rouen had a few ice balls on him from getting into the water bowl when it was -8F out. I was trying to decide if I should catch him and bring him in to thaw out or leave Mother Nature run its course. I was afraid of the stress of catching him and the extreme temperature difference so I left well enough alone. By the following day the ice balls were all gone even though the temperature is still freezing out but a whole lot warmer than it was. Tomorrow it will be in the 40's and today I got the outside water spiqot to thaw out so I could bring the hose in and give them all lots of fresh water. What a happy group they were. Still preening and cleaning all day. The little Calls have all been good during the deep freeze along with all of the others. God is Good. The Flock is well.

I found a rubber fishing net at our Walmart store a while back and bought it. It is fantastic for catching my flock as they do not get tangled in the net like they did with my other large fishing net. They all hide when they see it but usually I will wait until they are in a section of the pen where I can close it off and then I corner them and nab them to clip a wing or whatever else needs to be done. It is the only rubber fishing net I have ever seen and very strong and easy on their bodies. Good luck with yours and they are absolutely beautiful!!!
