Please don’t “judge” me as I have absolutely loved every type of poultry bird that I have had, but I think I’m going to do a transition to ducks in the main aviary during 2023.

Ducks are addicting. But soooo damn messy. Please don’t “judge” me as I have absolutely loved every type of poultry bird that I have had, but I think I’m going to do a transition to ducks in the main aviary during 2023.
I'm sorry I am not Mr. mudddy but I put mine in a coral puppy pen so they could all see each other for a day and then it was go join them!!! Nothing bad happened and then about a month later when I got two more, no introductions just get in their and love each other and they did!!! Either I am exceptionally lucky or they are just great little drake Call Ducks. My flock though was all hens and one Rouen/Drake mallard by the time they got introductions. I don't know what your flock consists of. Mine were also young so no problems with anyone wanting to mate yet. Good luck with yours. Let us know how it works out for you.Mr muddy helped me get Peanut and Butter out with the main flock today!
Oh Soooooo Cute and Happy New Year to you also!!!!
They are a mess but I love mine so much. My only situation is no matter what time of day or night, if they hear or see me it's like a tornado siren going off with the 9 hens. I love the eggs though and so far my neighbors are still tolerating me. Getting up and leaving at 5 am to drive the school bus is an early alarm clock for the rest of the neighborhood. lolPlease don’t “judge” me as I have absolutely loved every type of poultry bird that I have had, but I think I’m going to do a transition to ducks in the main aviary during 2023.
So absolutely precious!!!!View attachment 3364182View attachment 3364181
Peanut (with dark patch on head) and Butter peanut is approximately 1 week older than Butter
Poor little buddy. ❤My 2 boys decided it was mating season a couple days ago. They got along great one day and the next it was like “what the _____ happened?!?!?” I believe that the sudden rise in temps did it. We went from -38 degrees to 50 degrees in less than a week. I contacted the lady I got my ducks from to see if hers were doing it at well and she didn’t know, so she had to go check. Sure enough a couple were fighting. My poor Magu has always been lower on the chain, so it doesn’t surprise me that he was getting messed up. But he wasn’t backing down either. I knew I was going to have to separate them but I was hoping to have to do it in a month or so. But we have a game plan and so far it is going smoothly. Each boy gets a girl and that is that. I wish I could get more girls but with them only being sold as pairs it makes it hard. I’m hoping once Cackle gets theirs going I will be able to even out some odds.
He looked really sad that day but he is much happier now that we have a temporary arrangement. His wings are no longer dragging and that is what concerned me the most. With the temps going back down slightly I was also worried because of his exposed back. And to add I took the picture of them fighting to show the lady I got them from. Only because of it being my first year I wasn’t sure what was “normal” and what wasn’t.
