Margo is in Trouble

Margo right now. Open mouth breathing a bit today (not pictured), which is unusual for her.

Agreed. Apparently in the 40s 50s and 60s they did call it Blue Comb Disease, which is/was (?) the same thing as avian monocytosis. I read it had up to ~50% mortality rate & was sometimes treated with antibiotics.
Having said that, it does pop up in veterinary dictionaries as a disease. I am guessing that is just old information and agree it’s really more of a symptom/syndrome. It does make me want to take a bit of blue in a large combed bird a little more seriously moving forward instead of chalking it up to “well, she has a big comb.”

Does anyone have “Avian Hematology and Citology” by Terry Campbell? Apparently there is some information on it in that book, but I’m being cheap about spending $100+ on the book at this point.

Yes, please. I’m more curious than worried at this point, but am watching Margo closely for relapse. She is molting, which makes it a little tough to know how she’s feeling, but she still seems pretty good. She nestled down in my lap and crook of my arm last night, which is normal for her. I was surprised she did it while molting, though.
I have not started probiotic follow up and need to find that recommendation in the thread. I’m sure her little immune system can use all the help it can get. Thoughts on probiotic after antibiotic?
