MarineCorpFarmr Egg BOMB, A new Beginning! Follow along in his journey to a new flock!

I am RIGHT THERE with you!!! I was actually considering putting some of our eggs in the bator today. The bator that I just cleaned and put away. The bator that if my dh walks in from work at 2am and sees filled with eggs he would surely strangle me in my sleep with my pillow...or a chicken possibly. My poor, poor husband just finished my 8x8x5 wooden brooder on wheels and he thinks he is done building chicken things forever. :gig

Just today I was walking around the chicken yard thinking...hmmm...the Easter hatch-a-long was going to be my 3rd and final coop/run. But now I want to put Rhodebars in there...or something auto-sexing so I can sell eggs/chicks to help pay for feed. Then I need a FOURTH coop/run because I NEED some more variety in our egg basket. Because green, blue, brown, tinted, speckled brown, and Marans eggs are just not enough...I must have some OEs in there...and some other shades of brown...and then a banty flock...and then I can sell MORE eggs for eating...and so I have more money for more coops...so I can fill up more than a corner of our 1.25 acre...ARRRGGGGHHHHHH!!! Does it EVER END??? :barnie

Bahaha! I JUST got off the phone with my husband. I told him when he gets home in February he had to build 2 more tractors and another bantam coop and that I need a grow out pen. He was like , Woman I'll only be home for 4 days! Lol.

Oh, and I have 25 eggs in the bator, and I'll be setting some more after I scrub it out.....maybe I need a bigger brooder.....and I'm getting chicks this week too.....poor hubby! :D

Oooooh I am so jealous!!!

LOL...this discussion was perfect timing! Dh just called from work and told me he was getting a lift kit for his brand new Tundra...so without skipping a beat I told him I was getting more chicken eggs to put in the bator! He didn't say a word...at least he didn't say no, right!?!

In fact, I told him I was going to sell a few of our 3-week-old roosters so we have more room, and he told me to KEEP THEM!!!

BTW, that should be EASY!!! He can do one project each day!

be very careful of chicken math.......

I started with just 2 coops.

1 year later

inside covered run open run
Coop A 8*8 8*12 8*12
Coop B 8*8 8*12 8*12
Coop 1 6*6 6*8 6*6
Coop 2 6*6 6*8 6*6
Coop 3 6*6 6*8 6*6
Coop 4 6*6 6*8 6*6
Coop 5 6*6 6*8 6*6
Coop 6 4*4 4*6 4*4
Coop 7 4*4 4*6 4*4
Coop 8 4*4 4*6 4*4
Coop 9 4*4 4*6 4*4
Coop 10 4*4 4*6 4*4
Coop 11 4*4 4*6 4*4

add to that 15 quail pens, chukar and guineas. my turkeys and muscovies are on there own and find their own place for the night

oh and i have 80 eggs set 40 chicks in the brooder along with 110 quail

these birds are a dangerois thing.

Yes Oz, I would have to agree that you are a PRIME example of chicken math gone horribly awry. You need to post a pic of the whole "compound" for us one day, but you may have to get an aerial photo to get it all in one shot, lol!

here is an attempt

Pink is piggery for 9 sows and grow pens
Brown is chicken coops
Yellow is goat house
Green is the expanded egg house/feed warehouse
Blue is the veggie garden

Bernie's house is near the veggie garden,
Other blue roofs - our house, garage and pump house

Nope, mine were wrapped individually in small bubble wrap, with a few big huge bubbles on one side and also some white styrofoam rectangles on the other sides. It had up arrows written on the outside. Oh...and I closed the box with angry bird duck tape :lau   (as a warning to the USPS...)  There were 3 greens and 9 browns.

Hahaha yes I remember that box. I think we lost 2 bc of cracks but nothing major :)
