Marking quail eggs

I am no mad scientist---- I could care less which pen the eggs come from so i dont mark my quail--- the chicken pens all have carpenter pencils tied to the front door so when you come out with eggs you can write the proper pen on them immediately. Now i do mark set dates on my eggs while setting for incubation as i always have multiple egg batches going.... i just use a sharpie like most other folks here, even then it can be dificult to read depending on the spot patterns on the individual egg.
