Martha Stewart Television Show Wants You!

Hi! I agree. She made me talk ugly in the intro (addressing the bird in her lap as her 'araucana'), and it went slip-sliding from there. The bit with her chicks from MMcM was old and she's shown it many times before.
It just wasn't what I was expecting.
I'm always surprised when Martha tries to handle animals on her show (that she is supposed to be familiar with) and looks foolish and awkward (to me).

edit:
I thought he said something like Old Dutch Game Beebee.

I didn't get that either.
BB usually refers to BB Red (black breasted red), so I don't know.

On a positive note...at least a show with a major following had chickens on it and talked about the backyard chicken comeback. Should help us all promote and support raising backyard chickens. Martha did have a some nice coops. The show also taught newbies a little about new chicks at a time of year when many are bought for Easter. The show could have been better but it was way better than nothing. I was proud to see chickens on TV for one full hour.

Hi! Yes, completely agree with you on that, Reuben! The content just wasn't what I was expecting.

I'm sure there was loads of interest in chickens generated and gosh, they did pick some extreme examples --- a Modern Game, Silkie, and a Polish bantam, and that D'uccle.

EDIT: I can't believe I forgot to mention what a great job the MyPetChicken owner did in her segment! She seems to be on the ball. She even corrected Martha about the eggs shown while I cheered here in my living room.

I thoroughly enjoyed the show, though as in above notes parts I cringed a few times.

However an overall positive show and I loved how Martha's chicken just so totally relaxed on her lap. Cracked me up!

We just finished watching and I was impressed. It put the hobby of raising backyard chickens in a very good light and is hopefully another push in getting "a chicken in every yard!"

Oh, and I loved the total lax hen in her lap. If that didn't convince viewers of what great pets chickens can be, nothing will!

Ive looked all over to see if I could watch it online, but have found nothing. Has anyone else been able to find it? Hopefully I will be able to watch it Sunday morning.

Only thing is - did she pronounce "D'uccle" correctly?.. Dee-uccle?

No one is perfect or an expert by amy means...so any positive experiences & insights on raising these wonderful creatures flys by me. :<)
we all learn from each other and hopefully will continue to do just that. Take what you read & see....apply it to your experience and simply learn in a way that works for you.

Hey! I watched a clip from an old show with her & a lil boy handling a few birds, including a maran, & I thought she did seem a bit hesitant about handling them, esp. when the cochin started flapping! LOL I guess she has people take care of them for her....Like the little boy who seemed cool as a cuke...LOL I'm currently trying to talk friends into trying out the BYC addiction, I'll even raise them up to POL - NO WORRIES- I tell them, if it's not for you, I'll take them back! Man - anybody else into converting the masses? I think they are a very rewarding hobby & I think it's really cool that they had this show though, despite whatever coulda been better. Does anyone have a link for it? I don't have cable, so I figured I'd catch it on Youtube...Thanks y'all!
