Martinsburg WV Chickenstock Sept 24th 2011 8am- noon

When people see a flyer that interests them, sometimes they take it for reference. I know.. I've been reposting flyers for years. As for flagging, what we're doing (posting in multiple areas) is against th CL rules and that's why they get flagged. I get a ton of hits off of craigslist so, I just repost but, flagging is apart of that. I don't think anyone is purposefully trying to sabotage your event.

Jonathon wanted me to pass along the testing requirements to you guys. The rules are the same but, they are just being better understood by us all as we get more familiar with them. Please don't be intimidated. If anyone has any questions, pm Majestic Farms for more info. I think the main issue was the "all out of state birds must have the pullorum testing regardless of age" Last year we thought that birds under 6 months were exempt from this... and, apparently, that was not the case.

All out of state birds must have negative Avain Influenza test within 10 days of import/exhibition. All out of state birds must have been tested for Pullorum/thyphoid or the parent flock must have been tested. This is regardless of age.

Out of state birds must be accompanied with either a 9-2 or a 9-3 showing the birds have been tested free of pullorum/thyphoid or the flock is in the NPIP program.

Instate birds if from NPIP flock can sell birds without further testing. If not in the NPIP program a qualified individual will test birds for pullorum /thypoid at fair, festival, or show.

If any bird submitted by an owner tests positive for pullorum/thyphoid, all birds of that owner shall be denied entry into the show.

Jonathon will be there early to test all WV birds whom are not participating in the NPIP program. This is a free service.. just get there a tad early to be sure you have enough time to get tested before selling time.

Thanks for the info Erin. Just got off the phone with a gentleman that's bringing old english bantams as well as a few breeds of pheasants. (redgolds. silvers, and lady amhersts). I'm counting down the days in anticipation. Everyone keep spreading the word and we're sure to have a great showing. Now lets just hope that mother nature cooperates.

I just got a message on FB from Upthehollarfeatherfarm that they are bring some of their beautiful Bantams. They have Serama, d'Uccle, OE Pyle, Game Birds, etc.

Got an email today from a lady bringing Turkeys. Royal Palm, Bourbon Red, Penciled Royal Palm and Gray Slate. Some mixes too.

Several people are looking for SQ Silkies, Bantam Cochins, Call and Mandarin Ducks, Peafowl, Guineas .... the list goes on. Going to be a good crowd. Keep posting to Craigslist, inviting people and posting flyers you guys. It'll be an awesome Chickenstock. Pray for sunshine too.

Barred Rock roo and a Jersey Giant roo will be for sale at Chickenstock. Someone is hoping to find some good show quality Houdans, blue Andalusians, and Delawares.

Well this is my first post so don't be too harsh...

My daughter is 9 and has decided that instead of just showing her pygmy goats at the 4H fair she would also like to show chickens. A friends dad has told her he will give her 3 of his RIR hens to start her flock. Her favorite color is blue so you can guess which breed we a decided to aquire. Which means when I saw the post about the 3ee being gone already she was less than happy. What I need to know, because we are new to this is:

* does anyone know if there will be other EE's there?
* are these chickens the ideal chickens for kids to handle?
* are they cold hardy? (we live in the Hedgesville area)
* does anyone local sell these birds regularly?
* is it safe to house adult chickens and purchase peeps to be held in the same coop?
* is there anything wrong with having RIR and EE together ?

Hopefully this is not far off subject as the basic theme is what will be available at the meet.

An EE is an easter egger or a mutt ameraucana. It isn't showable. There are reputable breeders on here that are somewhat local like Kat La Due (Peachick) who has beautiful wheaten ameraucanas that are showable. I would suggest purchasing from someone that does show for a showbird. Good Luck
