I'm sure this is going to be obvious once someone tells me, but what does LF mean?

I am in need of a Dom rooster. Would you or anyone else have one available?

thanks,
tom

Tom, I once had to ask that too
smile.png

LF = large fowl

I remember looking up 'Roo' to see what breed that was!

Yep that's what it means.
All mine will be chicks.

Gotcha. I always just think "standard" or "bantam".

The Dom are some off my smaller "large fowl", more of a "medium" to me compared to the others, so "large" didn't occur to me.

From some poor luck/planning this spring, I'm now roosterless, so my Dom breeding program is at a standstill at the moment.

Brooder full of Muscovy is about it for little ones at the moment. Plenty of ready to wean rabbits and even a couple of new Dexter calves though.

Told hubby about the call eggs ( knew something was up when he saw the eggs)
Took really well!

I have 7 B A Call eggs cookin.
With the trio I won't need all 7 (
fl.gif
that they hatch)
I just won't a couple more of them.
I may have a pair of Grey's too.
The chocolates I'm holding on to till I have 4 breeders.
I may hit crunchie up for a swap Duckie for duckie on her blues.
Hey I have a big pond and a trio of little ducks get so lost on there plus the other two lg ponds on my Granddads side of the road.
big_smile.png

Yep I know you try to be nice all the time.
Knew there was a motive behind the no you won't!

I'm thinking of showing my wheaten rooster ,but my hens are coming out of a nasty molt and still look like crap!
I would not need to show one with him would I?
Oh I do have 4 5-6 month old pullets I could pick one?
Brian is to worried about bringing something back or getting something to let me show the blrw (so far)

Those are his babies.

Bad news. I am not having great luck with the eggs I have been setting the past few weeks. Either it's my incubation skills, or fertility stinks. I figure it's about a 50-50 chance of either scenario being plausable...
lol.png
Anyway, if it is fertility, maybe it will get better. And if it's my incubation, maybe your skills are better! So, if you want 'em, any eggs I collect for you are freebies. Give 'em a go and see what happens! Maybe you will have better luck. But I certainly can't trade or sell them to you, since I'm not sure if they're duds or not.

* sigh * I guess I am not destined to hatch call ducklings this season (which is kinda ok, since I don't have room for more ducks...but...you know, call ducklings would have to be the cutest things on the planet and all). I'm not having any luck from my butterscotch pen, either. I guess I figured since I'd been hatching chickens for years ducks would be piece of cake. ha!

Crunchie, that stinks. I know how frustrating it can be when you're excited about a particular variety and you cannot hatch... Then, the pressure comes on to make progress or at least get some young breeding stock for then next year... *cough* *cough* wheaten rosecombs *cough cough*

I've been getting a few calls each day and also emails. 3,000!!! hits so far on the blog site averaging around 100!!! hits per day.

Many folks calling want silkies (pet quality and SQ), laying pullets, turkeys, heritage breeds, more silkies (so sick of hearing about them but, people are crazy about them.. I actually had a guy who wanted them broody..
roll.png
like someone really has broody silkies for sale ready to hatch your eggs
lol.png
.. hey! might be a good niche

We're also going to have a few camping buyers! So far, 3 different folks are traveling from parts of VA and PA to get first dibs in the morning.

I wish we had as much excitement about our Show Clinic. Maybe, Tammy.. you could post ads on craigslist in No. VA and Baltimore and WV for just the Show Clinic and mention the testing clinic on the 5th for instaters and link back to the blog. I'd like to keep this part of the swap going for next year because I think it helps with the total attraction of the event. Many folks are coming because of all the stuff we got going on and, eventhough they aren't personally participating, they will enjoy seeing the pretty birds and watching the judging so... PLEASE ENTER A FEW BIRDS. You can post a card or whatever on your cage so that people will know whom to contact if they want some

Welcome to the world of Call Duck breeding!!!!! The better the Quality the duck (SQ) the worse your hatching rate becomes! Breeding Call ducks & baldness(from pulling out your hair) are completely connected. That is why when someone asks to buy ducks from me I just laugh! You should see the hoops we jump around here for ducklings. Seriously, calls ducks, are not for the faint at heart. Much easier to hatch Champion Of Show Silkies than ducks. I wish you luck on the duck front!
