Congratulations Annapolis!! You get CHICKENS

(up to 5 hens!) The bill expires in 3 years so, I hope everyone will register your birds and be on your best behavior. I'm sure a lot of people worked VERY hard to get this through plus, I would think other cities will be watching to see how it goes. Fingers crossed for great success

Hi all...new here, and just thinking baout maybe having some chickens for fresh eggs. Wondering if there is anyone here from Calvert County, specifically in the region of Chesapeake Beach who keeps chickens> I am curious about the regulations and whether or not it is legal for me to have them.

Hello from Carroll County!
Can anyone recommend a good place to purchase fertilized Guinea fowl eggs? I like to keep a couple with my hens because they are great at alerting everyone to hawks, and right now I've got a broody hen who could raise the keets. I would really appreciate some recommendations! Thanks!

I know of someone in Queen Anne's county who raises Guinea. He may have some eggs available. I found him here on BYC, if you're interested message me and I'll give you his information. If you are looking for someone closer, I recommend putting an ad up in the Buy/Sell/Trade forum. That's what I did to find this person who had a duck I was looking for.

And welcome to BYC from Cecil County.

I am from Calvert. Not Ches. Beach, but will ask some friends who are if there are restrictions/regulations. Welcome to BYC!

Hoping to get chickens soon. Right now, we are in Lothian, but our HOA doesn't allow chickens (although I swear I heard a laying hen the other night) but hoping to move to Mt. Airy in the next 90-120 days. Good to see some other Marylanders;)

I am in Mount Airy! I live in the Carroll County part (there are 4 counties here!) We are allowed chickens but if you put up a building like a shed you have to get a permit- but it is a free permit- well mine was bc I got a pre-fab coop...i think the fee is $50 otherwise. I have land but other neighbors have chickens with smaller pieces of land. I am new at chickens so I dont have much expertise yet! Good luck on the move! We are up off 27 just south of taylorsville:) Anne

Yay! We would be in the Frederick county part of Mt. Airy, and I looked a bit at permits, as we have to put up a run-in for the horses; we have two Arabian mares, the whole reason we are moving. This place is on Bill Moxley. The owner is being a pest about the price, though, but I'm hopeful that today's offer will be accepted.
