How cool is that? I'm not sure where that is but I will ask my husband. He knows the county well. I know where Calvert Cliffs is (are?) I will keep an eye for the book. If you come this way perhaps we could do lunch?

I'm in Prince Frederick. I can get into town and ask about the regs at the beach for you.

Cool. I had a bunch of friends in Scientists Cliffs, but they are all gone (passed away or moved into nursing homes). I used to rent the Locraft cabin in Gate A. Sandy Roberts, a good friend of mine, is now in a nursing home. I used to be able to go and see her at the cliffs and have free beach access, but now I don't know about getting to the beach. It is a private community. All my friend there were old folks.

Hi Sunny Skies...were you looking at the cape cod on Moxley? I ask because I looked at the home behind it- an older split level. The cape in front belonged to the owners daughter and son-in-law.
I have 2 Arabs! one mare here at my home and one gelding at a lesson barn. I am going to sell him cheap as my daughter is not in to riding anymore. He is green broke at the walk/trot... he is gray ...beautiful conformation - and is 8 years old. He is big for an arab over 15 hands. If you know anyone (or if you are ) interested let me know!
I hope it all works out with the house. Mount Airy is so nice.

My chickens are so fun and a learning experience. They are not going in to roost at night so I have used these forums a lot to get ideas of what to do.. A neighbor gave me more advice today. So we will see what tonight holds!!

All the best!

EEK! My contract was just ratified, so barring major issues on inspection next week, that Colonial near the western end of Bill Moxley is ours. It is a brown house, sitting on top of a hill, in front of the power lines, if that helps, Anne.

I might be interested in a horse like that, if he is good with children and trail safe.

OK, Maryland chicken lovers, so...what do I need to know about chickens here? I grew up in New Mexico, and we didn't worry too much about humidity, because there isn't any, or predators other than dogs, coyotes, and hawks. It was cold there, but the summers didn't get too, too bad. But you guys know how it is here...we can have blizzards, -10 weather in the winter and then heat index of 112 in the summer. I want to free range as much as I can for layers, but if I breed a few, I would be keeping them in. I was looking at the Purina coop plans and wondering of that would be adequate for MD with the temperature ranges, the humidity and the coons.

I am pretty sure I want Dorkings, Dominiques and Swedish Flowers. I like the heritage/rare breeds and these breeds seem to fit the bill for layers and some meat too. I worry a bit about the combs freezing, though, on Dorkings.

Hi all! Just posting that I have show bred SPR and SS cockerels available. I'm posting them in buy, sell, trade but since I'm not shipping them I thought I'd see if there was interest here. I live outside of Annapolis and travel to Mt. Airy, Frederick and Clarksburg during the week. I'm planning on attending the swap in Sharpsburg but, would like to move them before then. They were hatched early in March and have been handled extensively and are tame. Thanks for obliging me this post.

Hi Everyone,
I'm Michelle, and although I'm listed as Southeastern Pa, I've lived my entire life in Northern Harford County. Still spend the majority of my time there. In October I moved 1 mile from The Mason Dixon Line, on the Pa side. Anyone mind if I jump in from time to time? Would love to keep up with the Maryland going ons!

The home inspection went pretty well, with just a fee issues and only one requiring us to alter the contract to see if we can get the seller to fix it. So, theoretically, we close early July!

I imagine it's too late to get chicks in August, right? It might be best to spend the winter building a coop and getting things together to get started in the spring.
