EEK! My contract was just ratified, so barring major issues on inspection next week, that Colonial near the western end of Bill Moxley is ours. It is a brown house, sitting on top of a hill, in front of the power lines, if that helps, Anne.
I might be interested in a horse like that, if he is good with children and trail safe.
OK, Maryland chicken lovers, so...what do I need to know about chickens here? I grew up in New Mexico, and we didn't worry too much about humidity, because there isn't any, or predators other than dogs, coyotes, and hawks. It was cold there, but the summers didn't get too, too bad. But you guys know how it is here...we can have blizzards, -10 weather in the winter and then heat index of 112 in the summer. I want to free range as much as I can for layers, but if I breed a few, I would be keeping them in. I was looking at the Purina coop plans and wondering of that would be adequate for MD with the temperature ranges, the humidity and the coons.
I am pretty sure I want Dorkings, Dominiques and Swedish Flowers. I like the heritage/rare breeds and these breeds seem to fit the bill for layers and some meat too. I worry a bit about the combs freezing, though, on Dorkings.
