In my backyard poultry mag, it says that mashed garlic is good for chicks and full grown hens. it also states that allowing your hens to have access to charcoal is good because it is a natural substance that will help absorb toxins and help to keep the digestive system in balance. Any one do these?
BTW, i love this mag. anyone else read it

When I make treat food for the chickens I add powdered garlic.
And I add ash from the fireplace to their dust bath areas.

I really like the magazine too. I would imagine that garlic is real good for them. After all, it repels insects and internal parasites too. The charcoal, I believe would be good too.

Thanks for that info.

I got my first copy of BYP and I enjoy it. I read that too. The only herb I have done as yet is rosemary in their nest. It smells great

its never made my eggs taste bad... if you give them moderate amounts it will not transfer to the eggs... and if it does.. just sell them as pre seasoned eggs...LOL

I have used garlic as a worm preventive with great success
