[4 Love of Baby Chickens]

I haven't lost any of my Babies to dogs but my chickens were murdered by a family of raccons.

Be sneaky and take the dogs out, or they'll be back. Once they get a taste of chasing down and killing your chickens, they'll be back. I did make a guy pay for some of mine once, but they came back and got a few more, so I watched my chance, caught em in my coop after my chickens, locked the door and got my gun and solved my problems.
Dogs owners will let them loose, and you can bet the dogs will be back for more. I know it sounds cruel, but so is their way of terrorising and killing your flock.
I know how you feel. We have the right to raise our flocks, yet those who want leash laws let their digs loose at night, at least in my area, and I have problems. Had rather.

Well, we never found out who the dogs owners were or where they headed with the dogs other than across the field on the other side of the street. All of this support has really helped my son and we aren't mad at the dogs and unless I can't catch them and take them to the dog pound, I won't shoot them now, only as last resort...Not the dogs fault for following their instincts and also we are usually home, just not that day. We should have put them in the run when we left.
The folks across the road will be giving our son their fathers prize Faverolle roo, he is in a nursing home and can't care for it anymore...Already have a special coop/pen combo on it's way here for him. DS can't wait he is so excited.

It's sad to find so many of us have had to endure this pain of losing something we put so much time and love in...
This is just one of those lessons we can learn by....Do the absolute best we can to protect our babies yet give them freedom to enjoy grass, bugs, etc...We are working on this combo as soon as this snow and rain stops.
