Massive corn shortage expected in 2022. Tips for long term storage of feed?

I live in Iowa and I listen to the Ag news here regularly......lots of talk about growing more soybeans vs corn for a 2nd year in a row, as the prices and demand for beans are better than they are for corn. I've noticed in just the last 6 months that a bag of cracked corn has DOUBLED here! It used to be so cheap, but not anymore. The commercial poultry foods have also gone up about a 1/3 or so in price :/ So, it's not all hype.
I do grow some food for them during the summer, but no way can I grow my own grains for them, as most people can't either. I plan to raise my egg prices at least a dollar a dozen to help pay the feed bill. In the past, egg sales have more than paid for their feed, but probably not this year if I don't up the price a little bit. I do buy when their food is on sale and sign up on the manufacturer websites for coupons and to earn points towards free food, etc. Nutrena has a very good rewards program, fyi

i think if worst comes to worst, they can have most table scraps. I think it’s a lotttle over blown but it’s definitely a present issue. chickens were wild animals before they were pets/ domesticated, so I think they’ll be okay
Agreed. I live in iowa 4 farms and we've heard nothing of the sort around here.

Ok, that’s actually good to know. Maybe it’s just other countries that are having issues:confused:😂
Ehhh, odds are more likely that the changes haven't been large enough to be noticed yet. Feed proces here have gone from 15.49 to almost 20 since last summer. Enough that i had to find a completely different supplier and now have to rethink my sprouting side plans more

Oh wow that’s a big increase! Good luck with that

reminds me of gas prices

Interesting. Well I am getting the yard back in shape. I am going to plant some fodder crops I think in a few areas. I do not feed a lot of corn, but may plant some popcorn varieties as I can get that seed easy, if nothing else I will have popcorn for me.

I have noticed weird shortages here… like no rhyme or reason to what is being delivered to the stores from the companies. Trust me shopping today was a bit bizarre. My husband and I could make no sense of what was available versus not. We just noted the empty shelves of certain food stuffs. Luckily I either can make from scratch stuff, have extra in my pantry, or do not need need certain things or eat some of the out of stock items, but it was weird, you would think by now we would be past this.

Does anyone know of grains meant for human consumption might sprout? My winco sells grains in bulk (like those coffee bean tubes you pull the lever) and it seems that those might work well for what I'm looking at
