MAY 2016 "Land of the Free Because of the brave!" Hatch-a-Long Hosted by, Mike & Sally

Tuesday, if you have iPhone or iPad there is a great app that tells you development everyday and reminders when to candle and lockdown. It is called HatchaBatch

It's also on Android, I use it on my phone.

Set eggs (first time ever!) this past Tuesday, a bit after midday. So do I candle for Day 7 tomorrow/Monday (counting Tuesday as Day 1) or on Tuesday? Or maybe it doesn't make such a difference?
It doesn't make a huge difference. Some people do it one way and others do it the other way. Personally I count the set day as Day 0, so if I set them on a Saturday Day 21 will be a saturday.

Time to invoke jealousy. For dinner tonight my loving husband has graced me with a steak stuffed boneless porkloin, covered in jalapeños and baby carrots, topped with Swiss cheese and wrapped in bacon. This has been lovingly seasoned for 24 hours before going into a perfectly heated smoker for 5 hours. My sides include cheesy broccoli and colly flower, corn on the cob, stuffed bell peppers and smoked shrimp that sautéed in a bed of peppers and onions. This all sits on top of a bed of yellow rice with sausage and onions. Sweet tea will nicely complement this delectable meal. For desert I will be eating a HOMEMADE strawberry and banana cheesecake and fresh brewed coffee.

Anyone else hungry now??

Can I come over for dinner?? That sounds delish.

We had a home-raised cockerel (butchered on Tuesday), roasted on top of potatoes, onions, and sweet potatoes. Ice cream and angel food cake for dessert.

The veggies were home grown. The pork-loin was from a wild hog I processed myself. We try to use fresh stuff from our own home. Makes it some much better when you know you spent less than $25 on everything.
