Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

The infected flock in Lewis county was around 6 or 7 miles from me. But my chickens are under a metal roof and never get out to forage anymore since the pullet got hit on the road out front.

I got two sections of hardware cloth stapled up on the new run today. I'm hoping to have it chicken-ready in a few more days. It's getting kind of tight in the brooder with 10 birds in 6 square feet. LOL

They'll be so happy to move to the wonderful new coop.

Well, we finally had to break into our eggs from last year. the girls are only given us 1 or 2 eggs a day now. Last summer we had so many eggs that I froze some. Made them into scrambled eggs, 2 eggs, 4 eggs and 6 egg packs. Then put them into vacuum pack bags accordingly. made some with a bit of salt and some with a bit of sugar for baking etc.

I even tried to do some that I did not scramble they were a failure but the girls loved them :love the whites were fine but the yoke was strange.

This year they should all be laying. Well, all but BigUms lol. and should be back to too many eggs lol.

But husband really wants a chicken that lays white eggs any of you all near Marysville that has a chicken that lays white eggs?? mine all lay brown or green eggs lol I know there is no difference but in his mind ..... we need to have a chicken that lays white eggs.

In my limited experience, Leghorns lay white eggs. However, they have been over bred for mass production of eggs and tend to have short lives. That's a problem for me since half my enjoyment just comes from the chickens living a free life and living out their days..
