May 2020 Hatch-A-Long

Pics
Hi everyone!

Looks like I'll be joining in your May hatch as I just set these 24 eggs, they are OE'S, EE'S, BC Marans and Ameraucana (buff or lavender). I'm not sure what mix I ended up with as I just asked for a mixture of whatever she had available!

Hahaha my husband is the same! Normally he’s like “no more birds!!!” (I never listen)....but now he sees me incubating eggs and he’s either given up or doesn’t care because we can eat the eggs and extra roosters if we want to.

See, that's my argument too... Except he HATES plucking and it makes no sense to buy a $$$ plucker for a handful of birds. There's a poultry processor about half an hour away so I told him this time we'll fatten up the birds we don't want and send them there, I think it's like $2.75/bird.

My husband went to tractor supply and they had turkey poults for 50% off.

Awwww. What's his plan for them? We have a BBB poult that is my husband's 'pet' turkey... although he doesn't do a thing with it and I'm the one that takes care of it. :lau

Butchering 3 or 4. Keeping a male and female or 2 so we can have a few pets.

We are the same except we hate every aspect of processing. Killing, plucking...all of it. There is a processor 30min from us as well, so I told him we can just grow out all the roosters and then take a batch in. With my luck we will end up with 9 roosters from our 10 set eggs!

Hi y'all! I picked up 24 Easter eggers eggs. Two days apart from eachother. So I got two different incubatora. Im brand new to this! Its exciting for my kids and I do to together with all this dang covid happening and us being stuck at home. I open the barnyard chicken app more than I do Facebook now 😏 I enjoy reading posts and learning new things everyday! Here's a pic of the eggs I got the other day!! And also a picture of some baby chicks that the guy hatched from the same hens less than a week ago!!

I'm afraid my odds are just as bad!
