ok well I think I have 2 more days before anyone hatches so I will keep both holes uncovered and leave it at 68-67% humidity. thanks

ok, so I am on day 19 trying to get this humidity perfect.... there are two plugs.... if I unplug one hole I get 74% humidity- if I unplug both holes I get 68% humidity. which is better? I have 42 eggs, majority are Marans.(if that matters).

I keep my humidity between 65-70% and do fine. Definitely remove the plugs. I honestly think that is part of why my hatch rates were low when I first started - not enough ventilation.

I'd kind of prefer that, it would save me the anxiety! Superstitiously, I'm not setting up the brooder until I see a live one. I've got everything on hand, I just don't want to count my chicks before they hatch sorry, I couldn't resist.

This is almost as exciting as watching my tomato starts grow.

Candled my 6 Delaware eggs today (day 4) - there was 1 with hairline cracks on 2 sides that I waxed. Out of the 6, the 5 that are in the Hovabator on their sides are all developing. The cracked one in my Janoel, I can't quite tell. It kind of looks like it is developing behind some of the wax....or it could have started and quit already....but there is definitely red in the egg. Will see how it looks on day 7.

I'm a hot mess today I have a chick I sold back at my house with a messed up leg. It got injured somewhere from my house to the new house.

I'm emotionally wiped out. Hoping I can fix it.

I have a runty gold sex link hen who somehow broke her leg as a pullet and walks with a hop. She's very sweet and it doesn't slow her down at all!

That's where I got the Ameraucana eggs I just put in the incubator, too! Though mine are Wheaten/Blue Wheaten rather than BBS. Small world!

Awesome! I thought about getting some of those as well, but I decided to keep it simple for my first flock lol.

I'll send my wife over, she claims to dislike chickens, but she can watch the incubator with no effect on the hatching.

If April doesnt pan out as well. Im gonna try again in May. My eggs were shipped and today (Day 8) Every single one has a big saddle air cell and maybe 4/12 show good development. IM going to give it till lockdown (4/20) before i pull any to give them a chance. Any ebay sellers or breeders yall recommend?

I ordered from Wolfefarmyard here on BYC and my eggs arrived perfectly I’m letting them settle 48 hours before I set them in the Bator for good measure but I’m very happy with how they ship!
