May 2020 Hatch-A-Long

I know candling after just a couple of days is frowned upon but its 2am and I can't sleep so I went to the check the rat traps I've got set and thought I'd candle whilst it was dark.

Three have visible veining and one is not so clear so I'll just check it after a few more days. On the other hand two traps triggered and one is missing and I refuse to put my hand under the coop in the dark.

My first hatch of May is only a few days away! I didn't even realize it. I have been impatient for them to hatch and get here but completely lost track of time. Their hatch day is May 4-5 For both a set of Welsh Harliquin eggs and black east indie. I am excited to have tiny little black fuzzy ducks again. IT also means lockdown is soon! So far everyone still has wiggles in it.

I am literally 30 pages behind so I am just going to jump back in here and vow to keep up from now on 😂. We have been crazy busy, spring is finally here so our days are spent doing outdoor projects. We just broke ground on our new coop!

Yesterday I candled my hatchery eggs and removed a quitter. Today is D13!

And does anybody else have the farmer's almanac calendar? It definitely is a hatching enabler. Best believe I will be setting eggs on at least one of these dates 🤣. I have two empty bators right now 😲.

I wanted to tell them they need to cull it because it was 2 days before anything was done, but I traded it for another chick like a business should do on good faith. It's now 4 days after injury, there's no way this tendon is going to go back, it just slips out even when wrapped 😭 The rough times come in waves
How do you know if you have splay leg or a slipped tendon?

I used to have a Farm Innovators incubator - I think it was a lemon. I have heard lots of people with good reviews on them. Mine would spike up to 104 and stay there or drop to 98 and stay there. I know that temp fluctuations are normal, but these spikes and drops just seemed to stick and not go back to normal. It was just too much of a headache for me so I got a new Hovabator.
I have a Farm Innavator 4250 and I can't get the temp above 98
