May 2020 Hatch-A-Long

I may as well jump in on this one as i have a broody brahma sat on some barb duccle mille fleurs that i was lucky enough to get hold of, shes only sat on 12 and they are tiny but shes surprisingly gentle with her big gompy feet.
The broody desease is also sweeping through my flock so its a dead cert that something wil be hatching by the end of the month, i need to break these mental mothers before my egg supply dries up and i run out of nesting boxes :he

Wow.. what do barb duccle mille fleurs look like? never heard of them before.

I have so many broody hens every year, lol. It's cute, I really enjoy it but oh my gosh after the first 3-5 hens going broody, you really do start to hope they'll cut it out because we are essentially trying to raise them to eat their eggs after all. Lol!!

Not to mention, trying to break a broody hen can be sooo hard, and worse, they act so upset while you're doing it. I'm too soft to watch my hen stressed out...so I just break down and give them all chicks. Lol!! Hence my incubator full of eggs again do I can give some to the now 3 more broody hens waiting. Lol

When mine go broody I want to give them a few eggs and let them hatch 2 at a time. That way I can manage all the chicks they're hatching because you know most of them will be males.

I have no experience with letting the broody hatch. Do they really make more roos? Or is it a wives tale?
I was just saying that usually 50% are roosters 😂 not that they make only roosters.

When I do a hatch I expect 50% to be roosters and knowing me I would probably pick two eggs that were roosters and put them under the broody 😂
