May 2020 Hatch-A-Long

LOL! @FortCluck I just saw your new title is "The Vegan Butcher" I literally laughed out loud. That's a good one! View attachment 2128714
@jolenesdad called me that and ever since it has stuck. I will keep it as that because it definitely fits me. I won't eat meat, but I will butcher it any day. How warped is that :gigMy husband wants to make me an apron and a shirt that says it. He thought it was the funniest thing when I told him.

Ugh I’m having serious “fear of missing out” over this hatch a long. 😫😫😫😫😫

LOL! Well you could always set more eggs. I wasn't going to...Then I said I would only set the peafowl eggs because who can pass up peafowl! ...so now I have 4 tiny hatches planned this month and I'm picking up 2 dozen more eggs today.

So - my eggs are on day 14/21 Silkie bantams and one of them just started rocking. Is this too early for a bit or rock and roll? Or am I just being paranoid?

Thanks :D
Also I should add that it was rocking on it's own and then stopped. I whistled to the eggs as I do when I monitor then and every whistle made the little fella rock back and forth. Every time. If it hadn't been in the groove of the auto turner, I am sure it would have moved more and rolled about the incubator

Ive heard bantams can hatch as early as day 16!!

I have a pipped egg that I can't see the beak through? It clearly made some progress on its own but has been this way for nearly 24 hours. I'm wondering if it turned in the egg and can't get back to the pip? What do you think? It's peeping, so still alive.
