I love silkies and we just lost our favorite. I love sizzles too! Where are the eggs from?

I bought them off ebay so it's sort of hit and miss I think!

Great you popped over! I'd like to know more about your diy incubator...

It's just a styrofoam box Haha! I cut out and made some windows and put some holes in it and a light bulb. It took about 3 days to find a light bulb that worked and a fair but of tweaking. I had to cover one of the windows because I went a bit ott with them but its holding temp and humidity lovely .
I have one thermometer and one that does temp and humidity. And two small cups of water . I put a non slip mat on the bottom as well

Hi, I am a total beginner and I have just tried to hatch some buff Orpington eggs. It’s day 23 now and non have hatched. Cancelling shows that they might have died around day 11 but I don’t know why? Can anyone help?

It’s looking like yet another early hatch for us! I have two calibrated thermometers that say the average temperature was 98.9 (coolest area) to 99.9 (hottest area), but we are still getting an early hatch! I vaccinated the eggs for Marek’s last night, end of Day 18/beginning of 19, and we are now beginning Day 20 and we have two external pips! Both are BCM eggs. No internal pips were seen on candling last night.

Funny story - I can’t count! These are our own eggs, and I had been saving eggs for 10 days, meant to select the 6 most recent BCM and 12 most recent OE, for a total of 18 eggs. Simple! All eggs were looking good at the day 7 candle. Two quit by the Day 14 candle and were removed. So I got out all of my vaccine supplies for 16 eggs, but was short for two eggs! Somehow I had set 7 BCM eggs and 13 OE... Yep, I can’t count!

Ours have been the same way and my temp is right at 99.5. I have several thermometers to check. Maybe our chicks are just so excited to see us.

I have quail that’s supposed to hatch on Monday but a few are internally pipped. I assume they’ll come out today at some point. The ducks are supposed to hatch tomorrow so them being internally pipped doesn’t worry me since they take forever. My polish Deathlayers will be hatching today most likely or tomorrow on Mother’s Day I’ll have lots of babies tomorrow I think!

I have 7 silkies right now. All came from TSC they offered me a discount I couldn’t resist $.50 a piece. They are just the white ones. I really like them so far.

Sorry about the bad quality, I had six eggs but only three were fertile. They all looked like this one. I got them online but I can’t remember were. They were all at 99.5 degrees in a brinsea incubator.
