May 2020 Hatch-A-Long

Let's just say I carry ear plugs in my pocket... The thing is, though, they squawk about everything. 😂

I have one male and three females... not counting eight in the brooder and five in the incubator. I think I'll give those five to the two geese sitting on eggs (which aren't going anywhere soon). Three are developing, but it's early days--earlier than ought to be considering how long they've been at it. So I guess I'll finish them in the incubator if they're still active when their sibs hatch.

I've never had roast goose. 😂 Sure hope I like it!
I just ordered two pairs of Sebastopols. I have to drive three hours to pick them up next week. Worth. It. They’ll be a mix of colors. This is their flock...

Also.... @dougieee jinkxed me. I have another broody. I can’t NOT let her hatch a couple. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

my friend with the olive eggers has a hen sitting she may just give me some of those already started. I may be in this hatch a long after all!

I think they're lovely! I thought about getting some of their eggs, but pretty or not, I need cold-hardy birds. The fancy feathers put them at a disadvantage up here in the (still) "frozen" (well, okay not frozen, but cold and only slightly greenish as of yet) northlands.

The breeder told me two pairs would be fine together but I feel like I read a lot of people here say they have to pen pairs separate during breeding season. What do you do?

Hey guys! I'm new to BYC so this may sound stupid, but I didn't set my eggs until May 7th because I didn't know about it. Can I still hatch-a-long with y'all? I've got 7 Black Copper Marans eggs in my incubator. So far, I think I only have one yolker but I'm not giving up on him quite yet! I will just be about 3 days behind. :frow

Welcome! The hatch along is for anyone hatching and incubating throughout May... You’re in exactly the right spot!
