May 2020 Hatch-A-Long

I didn't get extras, in Meyer's. I have ordered eggs from them and Ebay which is fun but risky. Meyer's you can get a good selection, and shipment, but sometimes if you want a special kind of chicken you cannot find on Meyer. You can go ebay.

Yeah that makes sense!! I just wanted to hatch so didn’t really care what I got

I was bummed on my last mail order, I had 8 LO eggs, and they gave me 3 free extra LO and my other incubator conked out. I hatched 2 LO, a boy and a girl. As they got older I put them in a broody box in a shed, and the girl got he foot caught in the brooder, panicked and died, the other chicks stepped on her too.

I did have more eggs from them not just the LO eggs that hatched, but I wanted them, and they are costly normally. I ordered more that came today, but could not get more LO.

I am going to have a crazy number of OE eggers. I will be interested in seeing the colors and the feathers.

I ordered my eggs from Meyer's in April too, they were going fast, and now they are all gone.

This will be my last hatch of the season, then I do have an order in with Meyer's they are sold out, but it was the brown egg pullets from the summer sale, $1.89 a pullet chick. (and extras I am buying for me) I plan on selling some chicks in our area, slightly off season. People always ask me for some when they missed the feed store chick window.

I wanted to show these eggs I just got, a friend brought them to go with my bought eggs, the mom was a Fayoumi from Meyer's, I had gotten Fayoumi's in rare assortment order. I didn't think I would like that chicken I got 3 and I gave'm away. The eggs are huge, I didn't know such a small bird would lay a big egg, campine chickens are the same way. I don't have alot of white egg layers, so I am going to take these back, I am not sure, the dad on these may be a LO/AC.

So lockdown day is finally here for the silkies!
15/16 going in. One was infertile, culled day 9. Candled, all look good and showing signs of life with good air cells. These were shipped eggs that traveled over 4000 miles to get here!
2 of the 3 that were saddled have straightened out and the third will hatch upright. So excited, amazing how 3 weeks can feel like a lifetime!
Should hatch Sunday/Monday. Luckily I have the day off. The 7 of 9 remaining Marans eggs (2 black copper, 5 blue birchen) are going on lockdown on Sunday. Ameraucanas scheduled to go down on Thursday.
Thank you all for your sage advise. I will post photos of the fluff nuggets when they arrive!
