One of my sons wanted to help candle which gave me the opportunity to snap a photo of one with my free hand. Tried one further along but its wiggling made it too tricky
Good evening just wanted to update everyone. Not one chick yet or pipps or chirping yet. Still waiting. Hopefully I get chicks in a few more days. Hoping I get one Born tomorrow morning on my birthday
Congratulations on my first time broody Leghorn who hatched 3 out of 3 eggs on day 19 and 20. I know, I know I should've put more eggs, but she is a Leghorn and first time broody and I wasn't sure she is serious... Until I realized she is only going out of the nest every 4th day (!!!) She was sooo thirsty today, drank the whole cup.
Well, 2 more chicks hatched today but one has an umbilical hernia. I have another chick that is also very weak and not eating, so I am expecting I will probably lose those two. 2 are going to my SIL so that will leave me with 6 Swedish Flowers and 1 Buff Orpington. Not a great hatch but at least I got some!
Of the three Coturnix eggs I added a week behind yesterday’s hatch, two were too cracked to make it. One should hatch next week, and be added to yesterday’s four itty bitty little buzzy bees. Squeeee! They are sooo tiiiiiny! I forgot how tiny they start out as.
I still don’t know what’s happening in the coop. The moms won’t let me see.
Sounds like you've both done well!!
Out of the ten eggs that made it to lockdown, 9 hatched (the last one was malpositioned upside down and pipped straight through the wrong end)!!, and we only lost one, who was a late quitter and died without internally pipping.
