May 2022 hatch along

The eggs I incubated for a customer are finished up. I didn’t get a stellar hatch rate on these but it was a fun surprise that they were necky😍

I almost always get at least a 65% hate rate with shipped eggs, and more often it's 80% or better. Case in point, I have 9 out of 12 shipped turkey eggs developing right on schedule, and the Serama chicks that hatched out earlier this month from shipped eggs are feathering out beautifully. But alas, the hatch of English Orpingtons ended in a complete bust. $125 for a dozen eggs, only three of which even started to develop, and out of those, two stopped in early days. The one remaining made it all the way to lock down and I so was still holding out hope. The temp was right, the humidity was right, but the chick died in the egg, barely two hours after the initial external pip. This is the first time ever I've lost an entire dozen of shipped eggs. 😭

I have had this happen a few times, sorry for the bad hatch. 😢

Sorry. I’ve been there too.

That sucks. My 18 shipped don't look like they are doing anything yet. I am hoping maybe it is too early for some.

Fingers crossed they turn out okay. 🤞
Thanks! I would even be happy if a few hatch! I threw in a couple of my eggs just to see and my EE egg is the only one I saw anything in. All set the same day so a good guide on where the rest SHOULD be....... Which has me really question if they will do anything.
