May 2023 Hatch-a-long

Pics
I tried to read what i could, been away for awhile a lot had been going on, let me know if anything bad or unsual has happened please.
I've got good and bad news.
The good news:
Jacie eggs hatched, she took to them well.
My orpington eggs have started hatching, I've got one out, a lavender. Pictures later. Day 22 today.
The bad news:
One of Jacie's chicks were in the middle of hatching and she must have stepped on it, found it dead in a crushed shell.
Pebbles remaining 4 eggs all hatched, she didnt take to them and killed one while we weren't around.
Arlene's eggs went to Jacie as Arlene wasn't staying on the nest during lockdown and also didn't take to the chicks.
I candled 3 of the orpington eggs in the incubator that haven't pipped (The remaining 4 have) and one hasn't yet internally pipped but is moving, and the other 2 have huge air cells, reaching to the middle of the eggs which are quite large.
One of the orpington eggs that have pipped, i believe also had a huge air cell, as it pipped the middle of the egg.

More bad news then good, I know, hoping all works out well from here on.

So... 9 so far are developing well! So happy! :love
Yay! Congrats😀
Little lone gosling got some love :)
I just had a duck egg hatched too, so I put the duckling in with the gosling tonight
Added a bottle of warm water in there.
Just started fire, so the floor should be nice and warm tomorrow in the morning
This is the sweetest thing ever 🥰🥰🥰
Sad morning. A chick hatched last night, but it looks like Mozzarella stepped on it/smothered it. It was a perfect little SLW 😔 Another is zipping now, and no pips yet on the other two. So, she still has three to work with…not all hope is lost! My son was really disappointed though 😬 next time I’m going to check without him, because explaining that to a crying 4 year old, first thing in the morning, before coffee…No thanks lol
Sorry you lost a chick and I feel ya on the pain of having to explain it to a child😥 esp pre coffee 😨

oh so sad!

if the air cells are saddled I would try not to worry too much about them. Mine that were saddled all hatched just fine and the chicks were perfect and are now a year old, well almost a year.

Congrats on the babies that have hatched!!!!!!

11/16 of mine have pipped. It has been around 17 hrs since I noticed the first 2 in the incubator and they haven't really done much else. Hate this time of hatching as I get so nervous because the first one seems to take forever! The rest seem to go a bit faster think because they have someone cheering them on so they go quicker. It is also very quiet in there which I don't like at all. but hopefully soon the babies will start popping out!

I need to go check under my broody since I noticed hers a couple hours before the incubator ones so thinking they may have hatched. Then think I am going to talk to my incubator in hopes of getting them moving and hatching. LOL

Eggs are here!!
Seller sent me 16 although I ordered 12.
One had a hairline crack which is understandable. They were packaged pretty darn well. I checked aircells and some are wobbly, 1 saddled but over all...they look good.

I'll set them later today.

I cracked the one that had the crack and it was beautiful! Still intact, and a nice little white bullseye.

Starting with 15!!!
Wish me luck!

Congrats on the hatches happening currently!!!
