May 2023 Hatch-a-long

Pics
forgot to mention the crested part, based off the photos of the parents i do believe they will be crested as well. I have two crested legbar hens, wanted another one and actually hoping the one purebred egg i have in the incubator will hatch and is a male lol. I don't yet have splash cochins, but I've wanted some so I asked for a couple of the eggs. Only splash i have is Pebbles (The silkie mother from the last hatch) and two splash marans who are around 3/4 weeks old.
I have one CCL hen but think she is internally laying so I have never gotten an egg from her. Her crest is beautiful!! The pics I have seen from the lady I got the eggs from don't have as pretty of crests but that is ok.

A couple of pics from today.

I’ve got my cinco de mayo hatch going and meanwhile I’m feeling impatient to put these marans eggs in lockdown. I wrote down their hatch date as the 8th but I’m feeling like I maybe remember setting them the night before I wrote down 🤔. Anyway I took the turner out of the ones in the nr 360. There are 8 or so overflow in the dickeys so I can’t get to those until this hatch is finished 🫤.

I’ll be curious to see what happens with these. The person I’m hatching for said they used to hatch themselves but haven’t had any luck lately. I think te flock is older & I don’t know if their issues were due to their incubator going off in some way or an issue with the eggs. They’re dark so hard to tell what’s up but I can see enough in some to tell at least they seem to be developing and some I could catch movement. There was one lighter one that had a mid hatch quitter… that was the only one I could see enough to be confident pulling but it makes me wonder if there are others. It looks to have quit around day12 or so which is an unusual time for me to have an issue.

Unusual morning on day 14 for my first incubator. Two of the silkie eggs are starting to wobble and I could have sworn I heard peeping. Way too early for that and there's background noise in the office so I'm chalking it up to excitement on the peeps. Keeping a close eye on the wiggles though.
So there are two wigglers but I haven't heard any peeping so I'm going to say my ears are playing tricks on me.

I'm truly puzzled though. Candling them last night, two of them were definitely harder to candle and "fuller" but there should not be any difference in development from the others.
Temperature has been a consistent 99.5 and humidity in the low to mid 50s the entire time so far (51 - 56%). There is truly no reason for them to be this early.

The two wigglers are Miracle bra egg/Feather (which I would have expected to be behind the others) and Tulip.

I’m not saying this is what’s going on with your ‘wigglers’ but one time… way back when I first started hatching, I had a ‘wiggling’ egg that to my untrained candling eye looked ‘full’ Whelp… turned out it was stink bomb! The ‘wiggling’ was caused by sone sort of gas movement in the rotting contents😨.

TERRIFYING. Maybe with Tulip?? I can recandle here in just a second.
