I am so happy to see all these wee ones~

Last night was day 7 and I was dying to candle and see what I had if any. Well I was candling away and was about half way thru and seen I had about 10 and then a loud pop and fire and smoke

So I turn the lights on and told my DH to come there and my bator wasn't working

I was in a panic well after about 15 min that seems to be years we relized the plug to the turner was fried and that was tryin the breaker. So go the temp back up and this morn I went out got another and replace it. My DH was so mad and said you should just leave them alone and not candle Was it something I done? I did everything I have read to do and was being very careful. I am so worried about my babies now. I dont think I will ever candle again..I hope I didnt mess things up for them

Hey Everyone!

CONGRATS TO EVERYONE ON THEIR NEW CHICKIES!!!!

It has been so exciting and inspiring to see everyones cute little ones!

So sorry I've been MIA.

I got real sick from stress (not because of chickies, but personal problems with my sick mother). I have been trying so hard not to stress this time around, so after lockdown I purposely made myself busy. I even left the house a couple of times

(boy was that hard). I did leave the older kids home and called and made them check every half an hour or so.

Anyways, all the behaving (not opening bator for any reason) has paid off. Last night I noticed 5 of my 10 turkey eggs had pipped. I made myself fall asleep (the huge migraine I had helped) so I wouldn't stress all night. Well this morning I woke up around 7:00am, to a cute turkey resting in the corner of my bator. Made myself busy again and didn't look again until about half an hour ago and now noticed some of the pips have started zipping. One is already halfway zipped!

I will now force myself to do laundry and other house chores (boy will my husband be proud

) and only peek in about every 2 hours....or maybe every hour....OK a peek every half an hour will not hurt anyone!

Hoping that your mother is doing better...I'm a caregiver too...toughest job on the planet!!! Good thing we have BYC and critters to keep us going! Guess I will follow your lead and do some cleaning.....bator is just sitting there.....!! LOL!

moorechicks....it was probably time for the cord to go!!! It just happens sometimes....day one on my other hatched temp. stuck and spiked to 107 for about an hour....still had 12 chicks hatch...they are pretty durable...hang in there!! Maybe someone else will be along with more info, but if you kept them warm I would think they are probably ok!!!

As for me I now have two turkeys, one halfway zipped, and two who have pipped.

We are only on day 28, so the other five have plenty of time. I also have four chicken eggs with them and have one that has pipped.

I am very happy and

them already.

As for my other babies born last week, well they are growing nicely. Have me working double time cleaning up after them. I'm curious.....how many times do you clean the brooder daily? I wanted to do it 2 times a day, but catch myself doing it more. They are soooo dirty with all the pooping going on.

I have 2 incubators filled with eggs ready to hatch. There all due the 29th. Buff silkies, Mandarin Ducks, Gray& Mixed Call ducks, Pekin, and Light Brahma eggs.
