Hi, I am incubating 13 Faverolles eggs. We candled last week and we have 11 developing chicks.
Going to lock down this sunday.
Looking forward for my first Faverolles next week!
I see that there have been some very nice looking chickies hatched out recently. Thanks for all the reports, updates & wonderful pictures. Congrats to all! Good job!
Candled my eggs early to see if any of the loose air cells from shipping were in better condition & 1 of the 5 loose air cells was good. So, I have a total of 4 viable eggs now (good veins showing) & will candle on Day 10 (the 17th, I think). Thank goodness xtras were send beyond the 6 that were planned to be shipped.
Good evening folks....got a question...got my first pip around noonish today.....have a total of 6 now....no zips...first time hatching in egg cartons....is this the norm? I am being too impatient aren't I???? Humidity at 77 percent, should I be trying to bring that up? Thanks a bunch......I think hatching eggs is worse than having a baby...at least I knew what was going on with the babies!!!!!!

I moved my "on top of the eggs" thermometer to the wire floor when we went into lockdown. I thought it would impede the eggs hatching if it stayed on top. Through the entire incubation I had three different thermometers. One along the back side, one on the eggs and the digital thermometer/hygrometer , I moved around to see the differences in temps. I had it sitting on a milk jug cap to keep it off the wire and away from the water so it wouldn't get a false reading on the humidity.
I'm new at all this too. It is great to have BYC to find the answers we need!
