May hatch-a-long

Omg I can't believe she bit me... Ok i can but let's be serious I've had lots of bites but never one that almost draws blood. Did i mention she's broody? 4yrs first time broody and my god is she a mean one. I had another mean broody but i think this on is worse. I got her off the nest the first try and she started pecking my shoes and balking at me. So i got hubby I held her cuase it was about the only safe way and he marked the eggs I didn't count them. I just left her with the eggs she had already minus one that I broke trying to grab her and the guinea egg she had cause 3 is enough... so about about 6 or 7 under a broody...

Interesting, didn't realise that, I was more interested in the energy efficiency of the plate over a lamp. Good to hear though.
Me too. I live off grid solar, so there's no way I could go the lamp route.
Another thing that's a benefit to the plate is that the occurrences of pasty butt are a lot less. My neighbour has chicks a couple of days older than mine. She's using the lamp and sure enough some of hers are getting it. Mine are spotlessly clean.
