no i dont have a dog crate and i dont know where to get one for a good price i dont know if i could fence off a spot in the coop but a big thanks for your help

See what you can find. Even if you have a like extra wire laying around. It doesn't have to be a huge space just enough for a nest a bit of walking and some food and water. You just want to make sure the others can't bother her

so i do not what to do my broody hen is doing really good but one time a day the hens DO nock her off the nest and i want to make her a brooder but dont want the other hens to forget about her and so i was going to put a plastic tote on the floor of my coop but i think my chickens would still nock her off too lay eggs what should i do any one have any ideas. thanks
She needs to come off the nest 1-2 times a day, otherwise she will soil the eggs with poo... I do however take my broody out when eggs hatch cuz Her last batch sleeps with her at night and could squish a baby. I keep her out if the pen in a dog crate. Its all I can suggest cuz that's all that works for me.

Well, I gave in to temptation. It's way too early - I wasn't going to candle until the 11th... I only set the eggs on the 1st.

22 Eggs Set.
1 bad egg culled
12 eggs showing veins
1 egg that may have veins, may be the beginning of a blood ring... watching it.
8 eggs that candled clear

1 of the eggs that candled clear, I spotted a crack at the pointy end that I missed when checking them on arrival - it's invisible without the candler shining at just the right angle. I put scotch tape over it.

It is smaller, but forced air. So it Holt's temp and humidity better. It is digital vs. wafer controlled. I don't need a big incubator. This is a hobby. But to get 6/7 hatch rate is way better than 55-60 in the old incubator.
Nice.
I'm borrowing one this year and it's a pain in the rear, so I'm shopping around. I'm leaning towards making a refrigerbator, but I figure I'll need a backup.
