May Hatch-a-Long!

I have pips! This is my first hatch.

Yeah! Congrats. I'm holding my breath, mine are on day 19.......

Just candled the egg that was possibly weeping...and it's definitely not rotten. It's alive. I've never been able to see much in the Marans, but in this egg there was a definite black mass occupying most of the space and when I rotated the egg, it jerked. I quickly put it back in the incubator.

I wonder where the "dab of glue" looking-thing on the egg came from.

We have 2 ducks eggs pipped and a turkey egg pipped.

I did my first candling yesterday (day 7). I tossed one egg that looked like it started but quit. The aircell was also misplaced. I saw veining in all the other eggs but only definitely saw embryos in about 5. I'll look again on day 10.

Who's welcome in this hatch a long? Crazy chicken lady here. I did the Easter Hatch A Long, had a blast, and miss talking to some hatching folks!

I actually have three little eggs that made it after a terrible shipment..biggest mess I've ever received ..serious..worst..scrambled eggs. I passed the ones that hadn't broken, wiped them off gently, and had 6 go into the bator. I could see right away that three weren't going to make it, and now, the other three are doing well. I won these eggs in the Easter Hatch A Long. I felt bad for the gal that sent them, but, I am now crossing fingers that they make it.

I also have 3 cochin eggs in a bator, and some EE's in another, and I should get more eggs tomorrow...can we say .. hatch a holic?

Oooo, I wonder what is in that bag? Eggs?

Yes, it's hard when they want to pip and make noises at night. And for them to be turkeys and ducks at that! Wow..can't wait to see some photos.

These were all Ebay eggs. Shipped from Indiana, Florida and Kansas.
